Article and Reader Challenge in Quilting Arts Magazine

I was thrilled to be asked to write an article about artists giving back about The House Quilt Project. Quilt artist and house quilt contributor also wrote an ‘how to’ article. And a Reader Challenge where subscribers can make Heart of the Home House Quilts and send them to the magazine to be considered for publication. All house quilts will be sent to me to give to Furnishing Hope, who will in turn hang them in the houses and apartments that they furnish for women and children transitioning out of homelessness.

The wall quilts measure 14x14 square.

Here are some of Laurie Russman’s whimsical and colorful wall quilts for the Heart of the Home project

Here’s me delivering house quilts to Furnishing Hope

Heart of the Home

This week I decided to make some house quilts for Heart of the Home. I know that Furnishing Hope is running low on house quilts for this particular project.

It was nice to have some time inbetween deadlines to just sit down and make these for women and children who are transitioning out of homelessness. They are 14” square

I hope they will inspire makers to create one or two for this project.

I love bright colors and these fabrics were perfect for these wall quilts

I will post more next week. Thank you for visiting The House Quilt Project blog!

Shout Out to Quilters!

I have two projects and I am looking for quilters to make 1) 'Heart of the Home' house quilts for women and children who are transitioning out of homelessness. The scoop is in the upper tabs. Click on Heart of the Home 14x14
2) "Patriotic house quilts" for men to receive. 12x16 vertical format. See the upper tabs for the scoop on these wall quilts. For a family to receive one of these handmade quilts - it is the icing on the cake! I hope you will consider making one!

Heart of the Home

Heart of the Home - for women and children transitioning out of homelessness. Laurie Russman has create two house quilts that are cheerful and bright

Laurie had strong feelings about making these quilts for such a great project, for which I am quite thankful. These just make me smile. I am sure that whoever gets one of these will be pleased.
